Employment Law and Litigation

We assist our employer clients with investigations conducted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Kansas Human Rights Commission, and Missouri Commission on Human Rights. In addition, we defend employers from claims of discrimination based on race, sex, age, religion, sexual harassment, and retaliation in federal and state courts throughout Kansas and Missouri, up through trial if necessary. This includes claims under Title VII, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 1983, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Kansas Act Against Discrimination, and the Missouri Human Rights Act.

In addition to litigating on behalf of employers, we advise them on compliance with the federal and state employment statutes mentioned above, assist in drafting and revising employee handbooks, manuals, policies and procedures, and provide advice with respect to situations involving specific employees. We emphasize to our clients the importance of preventing claims of discrimination and retaliation by properly handling these types of claims when they initially arise.

We believe it is important to work closely with our clients in a cost-effective manner to determine which claims are best-suited for early resolution and which should be aggressively defended.
